A Special Moment.. (Bonus Time)
I remember the first time I went to a book shop and picked up "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki.
It was the first ever "personal development" "money-making" book I read. I couldn't put it down. It changed my life.
(For the record, I own 5 copies of the book as I regularly loan them out...)
I remember how his words changed my world and taught me a whole new language.
It was like a "wealth language" existed that I wasn't aware of. So if you were financial literate, you could "master" your money instead of working for it.
So when the opportunity came to hear Robert speak LIVE in the mid 1990's in Melbourne, I jumped at the chance.
I bought my collection of Kiyosaki books and was determined to get them signed.
The company that promoted Kiyosaki was PowWow Events and at the time, I remember the only thing I wanted to do was work for PowWow.
I figured the best part about working for a wealth education company was that you were able to get your education for FREE.
But later on, I discovered that all "education" has a price, whether you pay for it or not. (I've never seen a wealthy person attend the endless parade of free events...)
A mentor said to me, you can pay "retail" and learn the experience yourself or you can pay "wholesale" and learn from others. (That's why I love mastermind groups.)
I've always wanted to work for PowWow because I loved the standard of education that Peter and Suzi had established. The brand connected and shared ideas with the community.
Unfortunately, when they sold the company, other people just saw it as another list. Another opportunity to flog their wares and opportunities to people who trusted the brand.
Needlessly to say, PowWow suffered both in reputation and lost its direction. While many members were still loyal to the vision, they couldn't trust anymore.
A few weeks ago, I was presented with an opportunity to "buy into" PowWow Events. Not only as an investor, but someone who could run the company and turn it around.
I would have never thought the day I attended my first PowWow event that I would have an opportunity to buy into this business...but that day arrived recently.
On Monday, I accepted the role and new challenge. Make no mistake, it's going to be an outrageous journey I can assure you.
The recent "PowWow is Dead" email alone has proved that.
While my new role and responsibilities may have changed, my values haven't.
I am determined to make a difference.
If you have followed me for the last year, you should know what I'm about. Each week, I have been sharing a part of me with you in hope that it helps you.
I've taken the time out and committed that time with you because I believe in YOU. And I wanted to cultivate a habit that allows me to play a bigger game.
I know I haven't meet all of you, but I do personally know about 80% of people reading this and here's what I want to say...
"Even in your darkest hour on your darkest days...never give up"
I will be taking all my life lessons, strategies and insights and will be sharing them with the PowWow community. I hope you will join me.
I hope over time, we can heal this company and become one of the most innovative leaders in the new education era.
My personal message that I want to share with the world is "When you succeed, you create a platform for others to follow"
And with PowWow events, my team and I get to search and discover the next generation of talented speakers, educators and leaders who are making a difference.
I've always played the game differently and know that while I will continue to make mistakes, I ensure each learning experience allows me to add value to others.
Stop the information overload...it's time to invest in knowledge, skills and relationships that will transform your life.
So, this is a special moment for me. Thank you for taking the time to immerse yourself in an important time my life.
I hope you will continue to support me with my adventures in PowWow. It will be a crazy ride I can ensure you.
Thank you for your support and words of encouragement. I appreciate it and am grateful that you have seen value in the words and messages I have shared with you each week.
With 2011 around the corner, the only thing I can say is STEPUP and bring it on!!!
Live Your Legacy,
P.S But Wait, there's more. For a limited time, you can purchase the limited edition PowWow Ashes. Only 200,000 printed for only .... Just kidding.
You know I couldn't do that to you. :-)
